Cooking Up a Recipe for Service | A Cozinhar uma Receita de Serviço

The students of 3B took part in a Service Learning Workshop that combined helping others with hands-on learning. As part of the activity, they went to the school kitchen to prepare a special snack for the primary school students: a delicious cinnamon cake.

While making something for their younger colleagues, the students also had the opportunity to develop important mathematical skills. Throughout the baking process, they worked with concepts related to mass and weight, measuring ingredients carefully and applying their knowledge in a real-life context.

This activity was a wonderful example of how learning can be meaningful, practical, and connected to the community. By serving others and applying classroom knowledge in a real-world situation, the students strengthened both their academic skills and their sense of responsibility and cooperation.

Os alunos do 3.º B participaram num Workshop de Service Learning que combinou a ajuda aos outros com a aprendizagem prática. No âmbito desta atividade, deslocaram-se à cozinha da escola para preparar o lanche dos alunos da Primária: um delicioso bolo de canela.

Enquanto realizavam algo especial para os colegas mais novos, os alunos tiveram também a oportunidade de desenvolver competências matemáticas importantes. Ao longo da confeção do bolo, trabalharam conteúdos relacionados com a massa e o peso, medindo cuidadosamente os ingredientes e aplicando os seus conhecimentos num contexto real.

Esta atividade foi um excelente exemplo de como a aprendizagem pode ser significativa, prática e ligada à comunidade. Ao prestarem um serviço aos outros e ao aplicarem conhecimentos adquiridos em sala de aula numa situação do quotidiano, os alunos reforçaram não só as suas competências académicas, mas também o seu sentido de responsabilidade e cooperação.
