Dear Students, Parents and Guardians

This week, I am having the privilege of being in Denmark together with seven colleagues as part of our Erasmus+ job shadowing program. This experience brings us into schools that are experts in student-centred learning and Project Based Learning, where we are closely observing how student participation, autonomy, and self-management are lived in everyday school life.

What stands out in the teachers’ observations is the balance between freedom and responsibility. There is a strong element of play integrated into teaching and learning, creating engaging experiences even for older students. Teachers and students share equal and respectful relationships, building a culture of trust across the school.

The learning environment is notably informal. Students move freely in and outside the classroom during lessons, managing their own learning with a high degree of autonomy. School grounds are completely open, with no fences - even for the youngest children - and buildings have no reception or controlled entrance. Instead, systems rely on trust and giving autonomy. Our teachers have also been impressed by the confidence of the students, their self-motivation and high academic level.

Some aspects of the Danish system differ from Portugal. Students only receive grades from Grade 8 onwards, and there are no written school reports - all feedback is oral, continuous, and with the student present. In high school, communication is directed to students rather than parents.

This Erasmus+ experience has extended beyond Denmark, with visits to Sweden and the Czech Republic, and German students recently staying with our families.

These exchanges reflect what we strongly believe: we grow by learning from each other.

STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK

Staff Appreciation Week will take place from 4 to 8 May. We look forward to celebrating and recognising our team during this special week.

COFFEE MORNING WITH PARENTS

On Friday, 8 May 2026, our school will host another Breakfast with Parents, from 8:45 to 9:45. This moment promotes dialogue between families and the school, encouraging the sharing of ideas and the follow-up of upcoming school activities and events.

INTERNATIONAL FAMILY DAY BREAKFAST

On the morning of 15 May, we will celebrate International Day of Families with a special breakfast organised by parents. We count on everyone’s presence, from Pre-school and Primary, and support to make this moment meaningful and enjoyable for all.

OPEN DAY FOR NEW FAMILIES

We are delighted to invite new families to our Open Day on 22 May 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Registration is required. If you know families who might be interested, please encourage them to contact the school — a few places are still available in some classes!

BIO MARKET | FINAL EDITION

On Friday, 29 May, from 16:15 to 18:00, Aprendizes will host the Bio Market Final Edition at The Tent. Visitors can explore a wide selection of organic and sustainable products while supporting local vendors.

REMINDER - DIGITAL WELL-BEING AND SAFETY SURVEY

Our Digital Well-being and Safety committee is conducting a survey with Middle and Secondary students during SER classes, guided by teacher Victor Felippe, to understand their digital habits. We would also appreciate your input. Please take a moment to complete the survey. Thank you for your support!
