Erasmus+ in Czechia: A Week of Culture, Collaboration, and Fun | Erasmus+ na Chéquia: Uma Semana de Cultura, Colaboração e Diversão
Our Grade 8 students recently embarked on an unforgettable Erasmus+ journey to Czechia, marking the second step in a two-part project that began last term when Aprendizes welcomed students from our partner school, Scioskola, in Hradec Králové, Czechia. Together, both groups are co-creating a school policy proposal for the use of Artificial Intelligence—an ambitious project that encourages critical thinking, responsibility, and international collaboration.
The trip began with a walk to school, where our students immersed themselves in the daily routine of their host school, joining the school assembly and attending several classes. A highlight of the day was meeting with their Czech peers to discuss their joint Erasmus project, exchanging ideas and experiences that will shape their shared proposal on AI use in schools.
The following day started with an “Our School” presentation, where our students proudly shared a glimpse of life at Aprendizes with the Scioskola community. They then participated in an English class with a delicious twist, baking pancakes together while practising the language and building friendships. Physical Education took place at a bowling alley, and the day ended with a delightful walk through Prague’s city centre, warmed by hot chocolate and the magic of the city.
The adventure continued with a visit to the breathtaking Prague Castle, where students explored the magnificent cathedral and the Old Royal Palace, even seeing the famous (and infamous) Defenestration Window they had learned about in a guided tour. Keeping the medieval atmosphere alive, they visited the Museum of Torture before switching gears with some colourful second-hand shopping. History, discovery, and fun blended perfectly throughout the day.
As the week drew to a close, the students wandered the snowy streets of Prague, guided through the historical centre and learning about Jan Hus, the Jewish Quarter, and the iconic Lennon Wall of Freedom—a symbol of resistance and free expression during the communist era, deeply linked to the spirit of the Velvet Revolution. And of course, a few snowball fights along the way added even more joy to the experience.
Back home now, our students are unpacking their bags and reflecting on an Erasmus+ adventure full of learning, friendship, cultural exchange, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Os alunos do 8.º ano embarcaram recentemente numa inesquecível viagem Erasmus+ a Chéquia, marcando a segunda etapa de um projeto em duas fases que começou no período letivo anterior, quando a Aprendizes recebeu os alunos da escola parceira Scioskola, em Hradec Králové, Chéquia. Em conjunto, os dois grupos estão a co-criar uma proposta de política escolar para a utilização da Inteligência Artificial—um projeto ambicioso que promove o pensamento crítico, a responsabilidade e a colaboração internacional.
A viagem começou com uma caminhada até à escola, onde os alunos se imergiram na rotina diária da escola anfitriã, participando na assembleia escolar e assistindo a várias aulas. Um dos pontos altos do dia foi o encontro com os colegas checos para discutir o projeto Erasmus conjunto, partilhando ideias e experiências que irão moldar a sua proposta sobre a utilização da IA nas escolas.
No dia seguinte, os alunos começaram com a apresentação “A Nossa Escola”, durante a qual partilharam com orgulho um pouco da vida na Aprendizes com a comunidade da Scioskola. Seguiu-se uma aula de Inglês diferente e deliciosa, em que todos cozinharam panquecas em conjunto, praticando a língua e fortalecendo laços de amizade. A aula de Educação Física decorreu numa pista de bowling e o dia terminou com um agradável passeio pelo centro de Praga, aquecido por chocolate quente e pela magia da cidade.
A aventura continuou com uma visita ao impressionante Castelo de Praga, onde os alunos exploraram a magnífica catedral e o Antigo Palácio Real, chegando mesmo a ver a famosa (e infame) Janela da Defenestração, sobre a qual tinham aprendido durante a visita guiada. Mantendo o ambiente medieval, visitaram o Museu da Tortura antes de mudarem de registo com algumas compras em lojas second-hand cheias de cor. História, descoberta e diversão estiveram sempre de mãos dadas ao longo do dia.
À medida que a semana chegava ao fim, os alunos percorreram as ruas nevadas de Praga, guiados pelo centro histórico, aprendendo sobre Jan Hus, o Bairro Judeu e o emblemático Muro de Lennon, símbolo de resistência e liberdade de expressão durante o período comunista, intimamente ligado ao espírito da Revolução de Veludo. E, claro, algumas guerras de bolas de neve ao longo do caminho tornaram a experiência ainda mais divertida.
De regresso a casa, os alunos agora desfazem as malas e refletem sobre uma aventura Erasmus+ cheia de aprendizagem, amizade, partilha cultural e memórias que ficarão para sempre.
