Three-Way Conferences are focused, 15-minute meetings where students, parents, and the Head Teacher come together to reflect on the student’s learning journey. These conversations highlight what’s going well, what needs more attention, and which goals to set for the remainder of the school year.
In preparation for these meetings, students and teachers of all subjects have been working on the attached reflection template (link Primary; link Middle; link Secondary) ahead of the mid-term break. Now, it’s time for final touches and rehearsal, ensuring students feel confident and ready to be the center of the conversation.
During the conference, the Head Teacher facilitates the discussion, while the students share their progress, challenges, and aspirations. Parents and teachers provide support, helping the student articulate goals and identify strategies for growth. Together, the three participants celebrate strengths, explore areas for development, and co-create a plan to support future learning.
Why it matters
The Three-Way Conferences are about student ownership, reflection, and partnership.
When students explain their learning to the adults who support them, they build confidence, responsibility, and pride - and that’s what learning is all about.
What it’s not
- It’s not an evaluation or a test.
- It’s not about grades or behaviour.
- It’s not a meeting for complaints or comparisons.
It’s a positive, collaborative conversation, a time to celebrate achievements, reflect on challenges, and plan the way forward together.
Before the Conference
1. Read this information carefully.
2. Talk to your child about the conference: ask what they are proud of and what goals they want to set.
3. Book your appointment between the 3rd and 7th of November exclusively through this link [LAURA insert link]. Keep in mind that conferences for the different school sections will happen at the same time, so plan accordingly if you have more than one child in the school. This platform closes November 7th at 6 pm.
4. Organise your schedule so you can arrive at the classroom 10 minutes before your time slot. Be aware that parking can be difficult on these days.
5. Remember: there are no regular classes on this day.
If it’s impossible to keep your child at home outside of their conference time, please fill in this form so we can plan supervision accordingly. Childcare will only be provided for those who sign up.
